Kari Poppis Suomela and Pasi Ikonen skied unsupported to the South Pole in December 2008. The Finnish expedition´s journey across the World´s coldest continent, Antarctica, was over 1000km long and took take about 50 days to complete. During this time the two-man expedition had to fight against extremely low temperatures, freezing winds and physical exhaustion. Their mental strength was, no doubt, tested daily. Sleds weighing over 100 kg each and the ice cap rising to 3000 meters slowed the expedition down.
Sasta supported the team by providing them skiing shells made of Gore-Tex Pro Shell -material. The special details of the Everest-jacket and Storm-trousers were developed in close co-operation with the team especially for this certain trip.
